Hosts World Congress on Industrial Biotechnology & Bioprocessing The World Congress on Industrial Biotechnology and Bioprocessing is the premiere gathering of leaders, investors, researchers and business executives from around the world who deal with the latest issues involving scientific innovation, market growth, policy development, and future trends in the industrial environmental application of biotechnology. The Congress also provides an exceptional networking and business development opportunity. Over one thousand people attended the 2007 Congress and these numbers are expected to grow to over one thousand three hundred and fifty at the 2008 conference in Chicago April 27th through 30th. Brent Erickson is executive vice president in charge of the Industrial and Environmental Section of the Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO). BIO represents more than one thousand one hundred biotechnology companies, academic institutions, state biotechnology centers, and related organizations across the United States and thirty one other nations. Mr. Erickson will provide the EDC an insight into organizing the World Congress and its' potential impact on bio and bio-related industries in Chicago, the Midwest, and in fact throughout the country. Mr. Erickson joined BIO in 2000 as Director of the Industrial and Environmental Section. He was promoted to Vice President in 2001 and Executive Vice President in 2005. He has worked for the U.S. Department of Energy at its Laramie Energy Technology Center and in the United State Senate as a legislative assistant handling energy, public land and environmental issues. Prior to joining BIO, Mr. Erickson worked for the American Petroleum Institute. Lunch presentation: |
