ACG Chicago is a Northern Illinois association for corporate development, investment, and merger and acquisition professionals. Part of the Association for Corporate Growth (ACG) global network of 11,000 professionals, ACG Chicago boasts the largest local network with over 1,000 authorities of corporate executives, capital sources, corporate advisors and service providers. They developed their own growth plan last year which included dedicating a portion of their focus on new economic development in the cleantech sector and hiring a CEO, Craig Miller. The organization presents 4 to 5 conferences and approximately 30 programs each year. Over the last year and half, ACG Chicago has presented 3 conferences: on the general cleantech market; on the very specific topic of advanced automotive batteries for electric vehicles ; and, a venture forum presenting 14 innovative companies brining new energy products to market. Craig Miller, CEO, ACG Chicago will moderate for the EDC this panel of professionals on recent developments of cleantech in the Midwest and what prospects are for the future. He has over 20 years experience in investment banking, financial advisory, and general consulting for closely held firms. Mr. Miller also serves as a Director on the international Board of the Association for Corporate Growth. Prior to joining ACG Chicago, Craig was an investment banker focused on alternative energy, green, clean and healthy corporate development and business succession as a principal at Oak Ridge Capital. Before that he was Managing Director at Valuemetrics from 1993 to 2002. Shez Bandukwala is a Partner in the Chicago office of ThinkPanmure and heads the firm's Alternative Energy/Greentech Investment Banking sector. Prior to joining ThinkPanmure, he was Founder and President of Hilco Enterprise Valuation Services, LLC, a division of Hilco Trading, LLC. Prior to that, he had 10 years of investment banking experience at William Blair & Company, LLC, where he was a Principal in Corporate Finance and focused on business development and leading execution teams. While at Blair, he advised his clients on approximately 60 public and private financings, mergers and acquisitions representing over $4 billion in transaction value. Ray Weber is SVP, GE Energy Financial Services and is currently head of GE Capital's renewable energy equity investments in the central U.S. He is primarily responsible for investing in large scale wind projects from the Dakotas down through West Texas which have totaled over $1 billion of equity in 10 wind projects in last year alone. Ray previously headed Chicago-based Heller Financial's Project Finance Division which invested equity and debt in renewable projects (wind, solar, geothermal and biomass) throughout the U.S.. Ted Brandt, CEO of Marathon Capital, LLC was chiefly responsible for organizing the company, raising its capital and strategically positioning the company. He also holds direct responsibility for originating and maintaining many of the company's strategic and client relationships. For the 15 years prior to Marathon, Mr. Brandt held various senior management positions within large non-bank finance and leasing companies including: GE Capital, Dana Commercial Credit and Transamerica. During his career, he has the opportunity to build several niche businesses, turnaround a badly performing business, acquire and divest several different business units and to structure, negotiate, leverage and close a number of large structures financings, manufacturer vendor programs and asset purchases, divestures and liquidations. Mr. Brandt co-wrote Asset Financing, a book on capital budgeting and the lease vs. purchase decision and has very strong technical expertise in structured finance, project finance, leverage leasing and large sale-leaseback transactions.
