"Illinois:
The Unsung Technology Center of Business" Does Illinois have a technology industry? Absolutely. We have one of the most robust technology centers in the country. In verticals such as financial services, manufacturing, real estate, travel and healthcare, Illinois is home to the companies leading the digital business revolution. These companies provide technology solutions that impact the entire nation. What can we do to build recognition of Illinois as a technology center and realize greater economic value of these assets for the community? Fred Hoch, President of the Illinois Technology Association (ITA) will be on hand to discuss the state of the technology industry in Illinois; what can and should be done to support and expand the economic impact of this sector; and, how a collaborative technology community could change the face of the Illinois economy for the next 100 years. In his four years as President of the ITA, Fred has represented the IT industry in Illinois and has worked to foster a stronger sense of collaboration in the Illinois technology community. Before coming to the ITA, Hoch was an executive with the Washington, D.C.-based Software and Information Industry Association (SIIA). The Illinois Technology Association is committed to developing an environment in which information technology companies can flourish in an increasingly competitive marketplace. The ITA has its regional industry trade association headquarters in Chicago and provides its five hundred members with access to information and promotional opportunities to improve local, regional and national businesses. While it formally started in January, 2005, the ITA's origins date back to the Chicago Software Association, which started in 1982. The ITA serves its members through networking opportunities, information sharing educational programs, and advocacy for the software and information technology community. The luncheon is at noon, at The Tower Club, 39th floor, 20 North Wacker Drive, Chicago.
