"The
Solheim Cup" The Solheim Cup is the most prestigious international team event in women's professional golf. It is a biennial, trans-Atlantic team match-play competition featuring the best U.S.-born players from the LPGA and the best European-born players from the LET. The U.S. team, leads the competition, 7-3, and has never lost on home soil. The 2009 Solheim Cup will be played at Rich Harvest Farms in Sugar Grove, Illinois on August 17th to August 23rd. The Solheim Cup is expected to draw over a 110,000 fans to the greater Chicagoland area for that week. Kelly Hyne is the executive director of The Solheim Cup for the LPGA. She served in this capacity for the 2002 event at Interlachen Country Club in Minnesota, the 2005 event at Crooked Stick Golf Club in Indiana, and currently the 2009 event at Rich Harvest Farms in Illinois. In January 2009 Kelly was promoted to Vice President, LPGA Properties and now oversees all LPGA owned and operated events which includes The Solheim Cup, the LPGA Championship beginning in 2010 and the LPGA Playoffs. Kelly will provide additional background on The Solheim Cup and its anticipated economic impact in the Chicago area. The luncheon is at noon, at The Tower Club, 39th floor, 20 North Wacker Drive, Chicago. The cost of the lunch and program is $35 for EDC members, $50 for non-members, and there is no charge for EDC Corporate and Sustaining members. Reservations are mandatory.
