A Perspective from the Shop Floor
Brian P. McGuire, President
Tooling and Manufacturing Association
Wednesday, March 31, 2010, Noon
The Tower Club, 20 North Wacker Drive – 39th Floor
Chicago, Illinois
Recent economic news is awash with reports that the Manufacturing Sector is leading the way of our nation’s recovery from the deepest recessionary period since The Great Depression. Is this really true?
Please join us on March 31st to hear from Brian P. McGuire, the newly appointed President of the Tooling and Manufacturing Association (TMA), headquartered in Park Ridge, Illinois.
Locally, the TMA membership includes 1,000 small and mid-sized manufacturing companies. Small and medium sized businesses are the heart of the manufacturing industry, employing the greatest number of workers and producing the most significant portion the industry’s contribution to our national GDP. Brian will share with us what the TMA’s membership has to report about a recovery in the manufacturing industry.
As with industry, trade associations have also been adversely effected by the recession. Over the past year, Brian has led the TMA through a thorough review of its strategic plan. Brian will provide a view of this effort and of the adaptations that the TMA and other associations must implement to survive and thrive in this new economy.
Brian is a graduate of Southern Illinois University and began work with the TMA as Executive Vice President in March of 2008. He was then appointed President in December of 2009. Prior to joining the TMA, Brian was Senior Regional Manager with the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM), the nation’s largest and oldest industrial trade association. Brian has long been an active public servant, including his current position as the elected Supervisor of Hanover Township.
This program is sponsored by C&L Supreme.
The luncheon is at noon at the Tower Club, 39th floor, 20 North Wacker Drive, Chicago. The cost of the lunch and program is $40 for EDC members and $65 for non-members. There is no charge for EDC Corporate and Sustaining Members.
